With the combination of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics taking place, 2012 will see the Union Jack returning to a realm of glory it hasn’t seen since Geri wore that dress for the 1997 BRIT Awards. Instead of a commemorative mug or tea towel, there are a whole load of beauty specials to help us celebrate these occasions – just don’t wear them all at once!
Nails Inc Jubilee nail varnish combines red, blue and white sparkles with possibly the best packaging a nail product has ever seen. I actually don’t know if I like the colour that much but will probably be splashing out £15 on this when it comes out in May purely to have as a display!
Proving that Jubilee and Olympic memorabilia definitely doesn’t have to be tacky is the Chanel ‘Pearly Banner Palette’ – a highlighter blending gold, silver and ivory tones. It’s £32 and available from July.
Ever the beauty braveheart, Jessie J sported full on Union Jack lips for an appearance on (appropriately) Britain’s Got Talent. Violent Lips lip tattoos allow you to get the look without having to worry about smudging, with 3 applications – Jubilee day, Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony?! – for £6.26.
From one of my favourite budget brands Rimmel (where would I be without their liquid eyeliner?), these Union Jack eyeshadows have been around for a while, and are perfect for any patriotic make up collection! I love the pink and blue one, even if it does remind me a bit to much of the ‘half and half’ eye make up look we all thought was awesome back in year 8…
Finally Nail Rock Nail Wraps are available in a metallic Union Jack design – if I only I could perfect the technique of getting the bloody things on I would definitely be snapping these up for £6.65! Any tips?
