I’m not really sure why I watched The X Factor this weekend – I find it so predictable and laborious these days – but maybe it was because I was gripped by the horror that was Tulisa with blonde hair.
Shown in the judges houses section of the show, where she whisked her final six contestants off to St Lucia (which incidentally, looked amazing) Tulisa appeared with scraped back, bleached blonde locks, overly-pink skin and a horrendous dress that can only have come off a market stall.
I’m aware that probably sounds a bit snobby, but you’d have thought with the amount of stylists, hairdressers and make-up artists Tulisa has at her disposal she could at least get a look that suits her?
Having recently gone from mid-brown to blonde myself, I’m very aware that going for a gradual lift is key. My hairdresser refused to take me to blonde straight away – instead I had highlights gradually built up over several months, giving the colour depth and variety for a more natural look.
Although understandably, as a popstar, Tulisa wants to go for dramatic image changes that will get her in the headlines, I can’t help but feel this one did that for all the wrong reasons!
Anyway, the good news is that – she’s gone back to her roots! X Factor hairdresser Jamie Stevens tweeted the news at the weekend, and now pictures have surfaced of Tulisa in Ibiza (jealous!) with her dark brunette locks back intact. I hate to think what condition her hair must be in though – I had to cut off my bleached dip dye ends because they were so frazzled!
